This week was beautiful weather and for the first volunteer experience we went planting. We were on the corner of Linn and Market by High Ground Cafe and RSVP.
We planted bulbs in the ground. To plant the bulbs, we had to dig the holes, put fertilizer in, drop the bulbs in, and cover them with soil. We also picked up some trash and did some deadheading which is picking up the dead parts of a plant. Some of us swept and hauled garbage bags.
We wore vest and gloves. We wore the vest because we were not hit by cars. We wore the gloves to keep hands clean and to protect us from thorns.
We are looking forward to getting outside and planting next week with Linda and Carol.

I love to work in my garden! Planting bulbs is hard work in the fall, but it is so exciting to see the flowers come up in the spring. It makes all the hard work worthwhile!

DeleteJordan, I have been begging you to plant a garden for me for the past few years! I have a green thumb, just like my grandma did, but it hurts my knees to much to garden. Your dad can grow anything. You and he should plant a flower garden, vegetable garden, and a pumpkin patch for me!
ReplyDeleteJordan, you will have to help your mom in the spring! We are going to plant a few times this year so you should have a lot of new gardening skills! I love having a garden at my house.
