Missing Posts

Hi all,

Due to some schedule re-arranging, and a technical issue ... we weren't able to get a few blog posts published. This month we made some great meals. Adrienne hosted and we had Sloppy Joes and salad. Boris chose to make Elvis Presley Grilled Sandwiches, which had peanut butter, banana, and honey. When Fran hosted, we made gluten free breaded chicken tenders ... making a crust made with corn chex and olive oil. All were delicious. I'm hoping to have a few pictures to post from those soon.

Thanks!
Mr. Jordan

Pineapple Chicken and Rice!

This week for cooking lab, Torie made Pineapple Chicken. It was very delicious meal! The side was white rice, which was made by Tanner. First, Torie cooked the chicken till it was all white and not pink. Then she added the can of pineapple and poured the dry onion soup in. We then simmered for an half hour. When it was ready, it was served with the rice. It was delectable. Torie did a swell job,  and everyone enjoyed the chicken. The rice went so incredibly well with the chicken. I enjoyed the meal for sure.

Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dogs!!

Tanner was the host and the meal we made was bacon wrapped hot dogs. First, we wrapped the hot dogs in bacon. After that was done, we put them in the oven at 425 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

While that was cooking, we made the corn relish. First, we cut up at red bell pepper. Then we added that to some canned corn, and canned of diced tomatoes. Last we added a tablespoon of sugar and apple cider vinegar. Then we mixed it all up!

Torie made a side dish of steamed noodle vegetables. They were delicious!

To put everything together, we took the baked hot dogs, put them in a bun, and added the relish. We really enjoyed learning and eating something new!

Here is Tan Man wrapping the dogs. Sorry, it's blurry!

Rack of Lamb!

Hi all,

Due to Spring Break, our cooking lab was smaller than normal, so we didn't have a picture taker or blogger. Zach hosted and we made a rack of lamb. After adding some olive oil to the meat, we sprinkled on garlic salt and thyme. We seared it over high heat on the stove, then baked it in the oven for 20 minutes. It turned out great!

Step 1: Brown the beef
Step 2: Chop the onion

Step 3: Add the onion to the beef and cook for a few minutes

Step 4: Add beans with chili sauce, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes.

We lost the picture of the final product, sorry! We brought the chili to a boil and simmered for 10 minutes. It sure was tasty!

Chicken and Pork Sliders with Coleslaw!

Hi all! Due to some scheduling conflicts, we had to swap a cooking lab with a cleaning lab, which meant our picture taker and blogger were late to arrive because of internship times. So, we have limited pictures for this blog post.

Alex was the host and made ground chicken and pork sliders. We mixed together the ground chicken and pork, along with: onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, seasoning salt, ginger, a pinch of sugar, two eggs and breadcrumbs. Then we formed them into small patties and cooked them under the broiler using the broiler pan. It was our first lesson using the broiler.

Each student made their own sauce to put on their sliders. We had some tasty combinations!

Dana made coleslaw for a side dish, it was very tasty.

Before ...
and after!

Broccoli, carrots, and fruit salad ... oh my!!

For this week Zach made caramelized carrots and steamed broccoli. The side dish was a fruit salad, made by Boris. Both were really good!

Fruit salad:
First, we cut up the apples and removed the core.
Next, we peeled the oranges and cut them into pieces.
Then, we peeled the bananas and sliced them.
Last, we mixed everything together!

Vegetables:
First, we sliced the carrots.
Then, we put the broccoli in the steamer with 1" of water in the bottom of the pot.
Next, we sauteed the carrots for 10 minutes until browned.
Last, we added a little brown sugar to the carrots.
