The Quiet Iowa City Public Library

Hello we had an exciting morning at the Iowa City Library. We volunteered at the Public Library. What we did was we got a tour and we put books together for the newborns at the Children's Hospital. During the tour we found out that 120 people work at the public Library. Also it was banned book week at the Library. Some people read the Hunger Games book and it was a banned from the Public Library. One thing we learned was that Harry Potter moved from the Children's section to the adult's section because he grew up. The most interesting fact was that 1.4 million books were checked out of the library.

  1. Great post, I loved the facts you put in, they all made me thing! That is SO many books to be checked out from the library, I never would have guessed. I also think it is interesting that they moved the Harry Potter movies as he grew up- that makes sense (those movies kind of scare ME in places), but I definitely would have checked the children's section. Can't wait to read more!

  2. I am always fascinated to learn what books have been banned. Doesn't it make you want to read those books to find out why they are banned? - Dr. Pam

    1. Yes, I think that finding out why they were banned in the first place is fascinating. But I think its against the writers first amendments.

  5. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to read! I think that big book is cool. When I build a new house, I wouldn't mind having it for decoration in my small library!
